Famous Cities of the World: Ha Noi

Ha Noi is a city of 2.67 million people and is the capital of Viet Nam. Ha Noi is also a city of many traditional handicrafts: bronze molding, silver carving, lacquer, ceramics, rugs, embroidery are some of the handy-works of these craftsmen which has been passed down from generation to generation. A must see in Hanoi is the evening water puppet show. Ha Noi is still one of the Asia’s most charming cities. If you have enough time, you will enjoy a short cycle ride around the old quarter streets to see the different local ways of life.

Ha Noi is only a 1 hour flight from Hong Kong while Sai Gon is 2 hours flight from either. When I was there, the weather was beautiful with highs of 70 and clear skies, but it is often cold (though rarely rainy) in December. Ha Noi is famous for Pho and anyone will tell you that you can’t find good Pho outside Ha Noi. This is because the residents of Cu Da village have been mastering this recipe for centuries.

Ha Noi is situated in the tropical monsoon zone. The climate is divided into 4 distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Ha Noi is a city rich in tradition and legend. Legend has it that in the 15th century Emperor Le Thai To vanquished the invading Chinese with the help of a magical sword. Ha Noi is among the top lists of destinations for those who long for Vietnam vacations.

Ha Noi is situated in a tropical monsoon zone with two main seasons. During the dry season, which lasts from October to April, it is cold and there is very little rainfall, except from January to March, when the weather is still cold but there is some light rain.
